As we enter the second week in September the Florida Diamond Pros Baseball Club is proud to announce that Program Director Harold Vaca has received the nomination for “2009 Volunteer of the Year” by American Amateur Baseball Congress and Florida Amateur Baseball Association.
Harold Vaca was nominated by Florida State Director Jim Cowen, Jim has been a great help and has been a big supporter of the league and tournaments….stated Harold Vaca
Harold has been volunteering as a coach in baseball and football from little league all the way to the high school level for over 10 years and currently entering his 3rd year with AABC & FABA.
His nomination is a result of hard work with the 18U Connie Mack & 16U Mickey Mantle Summer League; and both State Tournaments. In two years Harold has brought the league through a lot of successful changes.
In 2009 the Connie Mack Summer League had its first ever “Six Game Shootout” for those new to AABC, in order for your organization to qualify for the State Tournament your team must have played six league games at a minimum.
The six game shootout allowed all the teams in the league to play their required games in one week’s time under one roof and allowed all the College Recruiters & Pro Scouts to see the players in one location before East-Cobb.
The event attracted the University of Miami, Florida Gold Coast, Barry, St. Thomas, Palm Beach Atlantic, Florida Marlins, Tampa Bay Rays, Orioles, and the Cardinals.
The 16U Mickey Mantle State Tournament also brought success and a first in State Tournament History. The State Tournament was part of a major event that was held by Prospectwire www.prospectwire.com. The Florida State Championships had some of the best teams in the country and allowed all the players in our Mickey Mantle League to go through a player combine that provided them with ratings and player profiles.
There is so much more to the puzzle that made this nomination possible and these are just a few pieces to his volunteer work.
The program is very proud of his nomination as AABC 2009 Volunteer of the Year and its a big honor and accomplishment. We wish him the best of luck in the voting and we’re looking forward to the celebration.
Please keep checking back for voting results…..
